Courthouse Security Discussed in Board Meeting

The Winston County Supervisors heard from courthouse personnel on Tuesday about concerns for security. Courthouse officials told of several recent incidents
that had occurred and raised concerns about safety of personnel.

Courthouses across the state have become aware of the need for increased security not only in their courtrooms but throughout the buildings as well. After discussion, several changes or improvements are under consideration by Supervisors including additional electronic security measures in each office, making the side entrance door to the courthouse a secure door that could be exited but not entered without a key and repairing locks on the vault door in the Chancery Clerk’s office.
