Quick Notes Around Winston County- Feb 20

  • County Supervisors have reappointed Keith Alexander as the fire investigator for Winston County for an additional year.
  • · East Winston Volunteer Fire Department has a new Fire Chief – Bumper Hemphill. The department was also able to purchase a tanker truck from the Forestry Service for little cost.
  • · County officials are looking at the option of reducing the number of postage machines in the courthouse. There are currently five machines under lease. Reducing this number as leases expire could result in cost savings to the County of as much as $18,000.
  • · EMA with board approval will purchase a number of spine boards and a power stretcher with EMS Grant pass through money. These items can and will be used by local services that will be the property of the County.
  • · Eiland Middle School will have their annual Black History Program on February 28 at 6 PM at the school library.
  • · The City of Louisville has set hearings on unclean properties located at 412 West Academy Cir. and 709 North Columbus Ave. for March 19.
  • · Remodeling is still underway at Louisville City Hall. The auditorium and/or board room is complete but office construction in the old board room is still underway and should be completed in the next 2-3 weeks.
