Dean Park Installs New Officers

On Saturday, July 13, 2013, Friends of Dean Park, Inc. (FODP) installed its newly elected

officers at the regular monthly membership meeting.  The installation was done by member, Rev. Henry Donald of Noxapater.  The new officers:

The group voted to present stipends to four graduating high school seniors. Carnette Hudson presented a request for one student who is a members of NFusion and will be attending Ole Miss; one reguest from Doors of Hope Ministries; one from NAACP and another was a previous recipient.  These stipends come from the Milton E. Dean Scholarship Funds.  Tax deductible donations can be mailed to:

A committee was formed to plan the 6th Annual HarvestFest which will be held on October 5, 2013 at Dean Park.  Applications will be mailed to vendors soon.  For more information, please contact one of the officers. If you would like to help plan or participate in this event, please contact the officers. Merchants are again asked to compete in the Scarecrow Contest.
Newly elected president, Richard Moncrief addressed the membership and requested that, "members become more committed to our mission." His goal as president is to get more of the surrounding community involved and for FODP to increase membership. He will conduct a survey of the immediate community for suggestions for the organization.  He stated that the ongoing beautification projects will continue, as well as gardening. He thanked the community, Dean Park Commission, membership and previous president, Elmetra Patterson,  for all of the support and accomplishments in the last five years.
