Positions Available through MSU with LMSD DREAMS Program

The College of Education is seeking experienced individuals to work in the Louisville Municipal School District (LMSD) with the Dillard’s Reading, Enrichment, Arts, Mathematics, and Science (DREAMS) Project.



Project Overview
DREAMS staff will provide academic tutoring using evidence-based curricula and strategies to increase student skills in reading and mathematics that will complement the students’ regular academic program with an emphasis on active, hands-on learning activities.


The following positions are available:



INTERVENTIONIST


Responsibilities:  
    • Work 17 hours a week during the regular school day from Monday-Thursday, at $20 an hour
    • Tutor and assist students participating in DREAMS with reading and mathematics content
    • Plan and prepare reading and mathematics intervention activities for DREAMS students
    • Communicate the needs of the DREAMS students to the Project Director, Project
Coordinators, Project Teachers, Office Associate, and LMSD Administrators and   Teachers
    • Assist with assessing students’ growth, progress monitoring, and data collection and reporting in DREAMS
    • Maintain detailed records of intervention activities with DREAMS students
    • Participate in regular professional development activities


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in a K-4 classroom
  • Associate’s degree or 48+ hours of college coursework (must include copy of transcript     with resume)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed to teach in Mississippi, elementary K-8 or K-6
  • Bachelor’s degree


TEACHER


Responsibilities:  
    • Work 9 hours a week after-school from Monday-Thursday, at $20 an hour
    • Tutor and assist  students participating in DREAMS with reading and mathematics content and homework
    • Plan and prepare reading and mathematics activities for DREAMS students
    • Communicate the needs of the DREAMS students to the Project Director, Project
    • Coordinator, Project Teachers, Office Associate, Interventionists, and LMSD Administrators and Teachers
    • Assist with assessing students’ growth and progress monitoring for DREAMS
    • Maintain detailed records of after-school activities with DREAMS students
    • Participate in regular professional development activities


Minimum Qualifications:
    • Licensed to teach in Mississippi, elementary K-8 or K-6
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Extensive experience in a K-4 classroom


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently employed by LMSD



PARAPROFESSIONAL/TUTOR


Responsibilities:  
    • Work 9 hours a week after-school from Monday-Thursday, at $10 an hour
    • Tutor and assist  students participating in DREAMS with reading and mathematics content and homework
    • Assist with the planning and preparation of reading and mathematics activities for DREAMS students
    • Communicate the needs of the DREAMS students to the Project Director, Project
Coordinator, Project Teachers, Office Associate, Interventionists, and LMSD Administrators and Teachers
    • Assist with assessing students’ growth and progress monitoring in DREAMS
    • Assist with maintaining detailed records of after-school activities with DREAMS students
    • Participate in regular professional development activities as needed


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently employed by LMSD
  • Extensive experience in a K-4 classroom
