The Friends of Nanih Waiya Community Park would like to welcome everyone to attend their First Annual Nanih Waiya Fall Festival on Saturday, October 19 on Middleton Road in the Nanih Waiya Community.

The Festival will kick off bright and early with the inaugural Swamptown 5K Run/Walk. Check in for the 5K will begin at 7 am and the race will start at 8 am. The pre-registration deadline has passed, however, race day entries will be accepted for a $35 fee. Pre-registered racers will receive shirts and a limited number of extra shirts were ordered for on site entries.

At 9 am the Festival will open with a prayer and the National Anthem. Arts and crafts booths and a bake sale booth will be open at this time as well. A food booth sponsored by the Road Warriors motorcycle club will be there preparing barbecue chicken and pulled pork plates for lunch along with hotdogs for the kids. The proceeds from the food booth will be split between the Nanih Waiya Community Park and the Road Warriors Nanih Waiya Senior Scholarship Fund.

The Festival will also have a carnival for the kids complete with games and prizes, jumpers, and a hayride to the pumpkin patch. Tickets for the carnival area will be 50 cents each and each game will require either one or two tickets. All day passes may be obtained also for a donation to the park. Passes will be $20 for one child, $35 for two and $50 for 3 or more. The carnival will also include a good old fashioned cake walk for the young at heart.

Special entertainment featuring gospel music from the Wells family and brother Sean Greer will occur throughout the morning. There will also be a talent show for those aspiring artists who attend. Registration for the talent show will be from 9 am – 10 am and performances will begin shortly thereafter.

All the proceeds from the carnival, 5k, and booth fees will go to the Friends of Nanih Waiya Community Park and their on going project to build a community park in Nanih Waiya.
