Gollee and Shazam! - Harvest Fest on Saturday

It's late Friday afternoon and Andy, Barney, Opie and Gomer are down at the Courthouse making plans for the Harvest Fest in Louisville on Saturday.

"Now Barney, I'm going to take Earnest T down behind the Post Office at 7 am and git him signed up for the 5K run. I know he's a little mean but he's real healthy and I think he could win that thing... and he promised not to throw any rocks during the race. While I'm doin that, you and Gomer get South Columbus Ave. all set up for the festivities. Now don't be arrestin nobody for vagrancy or let Gomer go around shoutin "Citizens Arrest, Citizens Arrest!"

"Then we'll all meet Aunt Bea, Helen and Betty Lou over at the First Methodist Church for breakfast. I hear they got a good un. Now Opie, after we eat, you and Johnnie Paul get your red wagons and help Aunt Bea and Ms. Edwards haul all their chili fixins over to South Columbus to get started in the chili cookoff. You stay close by now to help stir the pot, you hear?"

"Gomer, take that gun outta your mouth and pay attention! Helen and Betty Lou are gonna shop at the First Methodist Bazaar and Floyd promised to buy up all of Aunt Bea's kerosene pickles so's nobody'll get sick. Barney and me will head over to the Chamber office on Park St. at 9:30 and we're gonna lead the Veteran's Parade. Barney's gonna drive that army surplus motorcycle and I'm gonna ride in the side car. We should be on South Columbus around 11 or so."

After the Veterans' events, I'm gonna grab my guitar and see if I can join in with a few songs with some of the entertainment. I hear the Collegians from ECCC are gonna be there and they're pretty darn good! You never know, the Darlins might even show up. If'n they do, Barney, you'll need to help me keep Earnest T away from Dud Wash. Them two don't get along and if there's a problem, I'll need you to nip it... nip it in the bud.  Also don't let Earnest T up on stage.. he'll start singin "Eatin Goober Peas" and nobody needs to hear that."

"All in all, it should be a good time with all that goin on and there'll be some arts and crafts as well. We want folks to enjoy themselves in Louisville. And if'n the Wakefields and Carters come to town, ya'll keep em on opposite sides of the street, would ya? Oh, and be on the look out for Otis and that loaded goat he took up with."
