No Election Required for LMSD School Board District 1

Winston County CircuitClerk Kim Ming announced that no election would be required this November for the position of Louisville Municipal School District Board Trustee in District One. Friday, October 4 was the last day to qualify for the position. Ming indicated that since only one candidate qualified by the deadline date, election commissioners could certify that candidate to the Secretary of State's Office.

Sheila Hickman qualified to take the position of Claire Crowell on the Board. Crowell did not seek re-election to the position.

Candidates had to register for the Louisville Municipal School Board of Trustee position, District 1 between August 7th and October 4th.  Candidates were required to  present a petition containing 150 voter signatures from within the district to the Winston County Circuit Clerk to qualify.

If an election had been required, it would have been scheduled for November 5th. In 2012, legislative changes moved the election of school board members from March to November. This change extended the term of current District 1 Trustee Claire Crowell.

Hickman will take office in January 2014.
