Louisville Advances and Bracket Set for Noxapater/Nanih Waiya

Three of Winston County's high school football teams will be in post season play this Friday night as they continue toward a state title in their respective divisions. Louisville is looking for its 8th state title as it enters the 2nd round of the 3A bracket after last week's defeat of Ruleville Central 69-0. The 12-0 Wildcats will play host to a good 11-1
Water Valley team that may present the Cats with some of their toughest competition this season. Water Valley had no trouble with Kossuth in their 1st round game - winning 47-15. Louisville has been ranked #1 in Division 3A for the entire season and statewide polls have ranked the Wildcats as high as #4 regardless of division.

Noxapater will start play at home as they host Lumberton in Division 1A first round play. The Tigers topped Region 3 again by defeating West Lowndes last week (26-12) to end the regular season.

Nanih Waiya struggled at times but made it into the 1A bracket as well as they easily downed West Oktibbeha 47-6 to close the regular season. A big overtime win earlier this year over Noxapater helped the Warriors extend their season. Nanih Waiya will be on the road and will have to defeat a good Stringer team to set up a rematch with Noxapater somewhere down the road.

All game times are scheduled for 7:00 pm. Brackets for each division can be seen on the MHSAA website by clicking here and the Division 3A link is also available above on our menu.
