Veterans' Day Celebration and Fly Over Scheduled for Monday

There will be a special ceremony on Monday, November 11 on the Louisville bypass to celebrate
Veterans' Day. The Louisville High Band will be on hand beginning at 9:00 am and a fly over is scheduled for 9:35 to honor our Veterans and their service to our country. The Louisville Lions will also be recognized for their flag program that will display a series of American flags along the bypass for patriotic holidays.

The program will be held on the grass area in front of the Louisville Walmart. The public is encouraged to attend and bring along a veteran or current service member.

The program includes the LHS Band, Senator Giles Ward, retired Brigadier General Amelia Kennedy, the aerial flyover by the Meridian L-17 Formation Team and Tracy McCully will sing for the event.

The flag project completed by the Louisville Lions Club in cooperation with the City of Louisville and MDOT will display 60 sponsored flags along the bypass in remembrance of a veteran for the week of major patriotic holidays. There are still a few sponsorships available for $25/year. To honor the memory or life of a veteran with a flag on the by-pass, contact Mike Dowd at 662-803-7952. Again, only the first 60 subscriptions can be honored. Proceeds from the project will be used to support the Lions' ongoing project of providing eyeglasses for underprivileged children.
