Wildcats Head to State Title Game Looking for 8th Championship

The game was never in doubt on Friday night (Nov 29) as the Louisville Wildcats traveled to Charleston for the North 3A title game against Charleston. Most experts picked the Tigers of Charleston to be the toughest test yet for the Wildcats but a strong defense and big pass plays and runs put Louisville up early and they were never really challenged.

Louisville led 28-0 at halftime and pulled many of their starters by the 4th quarter on their way to a 35-0 victory. The Cats scored early in the 1st quarter on a 12 yard pass from Roberts to Goss. On the last play of the 1st quarter,Roberts took the ball to the Charleston 1 yard line on a 49 yard run. Sangster took the ball in from there as the 2nd quarter began.

Louisville's defense got into the act as well after forcing several 3 and outs, the Cats picked up a fumble after a reception and ran it in from 40 yards out to make the score 21-0. Before halftime, Roberts again connected on a 17 yard TD, this time with Dontae Jones.

In the 2nd half, Louisville missed a 38 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter but came right back with another 30 yard TD pass from Roberts to Goss to finish the scoring for the night.

Louisville will face Hazelhurst in the State 3A Title Game on Saturday (Dec 7) at 11:00 am at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Jackson.  Hazelhurst defeated Wilkinson County 36-22 to win the South 3A Title.
