Students Enjoy Program with "Move To Learn" Star!

The kids at Fair and Louisville Elementary got the opportunity to visit and interact with Larry Calhoun
and others of the Move To Learn program on Friday (Dec 13) in the LES cafeteria. Calhoun, the star of the Move to Learn exercise videos and programs led each grade through exercises and fun programs throughout the day.

Move To Learn was formed through a partnership with the Bowers Foundation and the Mississippi Department of Education's Office of Healthy Schools and has been in place in LMSD schools throughout the 2013 -2014 school year. Move to Learn is designed to help teachers raise student fitness levels and, in turn, raise student achievement. By taking short physical exercise breaks during the class day, the program hopes to not only improve the students' physical fitness but also improve attention, grades and behavioral problems.

Coach Calhoun's visit to Louisville is part of Move to Learn On the Road Program. You can visit the Move To Learn website at to find out more about the program that includes videos, music and lesson plans.
