ICE - It Could Have Been Worse!

It could have been much worse but it's not over yet.  Winston County woke this morning with ice on trees and windshields but with decent road conditions and no power outages. Ice accumulations did not reach the projected estimates of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

MHP reports some icing on bridges, especially in the western part of Winston County, otherwise roads are wet but generally not icy. Drivers should expect slick conditions on bridges and overpasses throughout the morning.

On Monday afternoon, weather projections were for up to 1/2 inch of ice, possible power outages and hazardous road conditions, prompting school, county and city officials to close offices on Tuesday. ( a list of closings is provided below in a previous post)

Precipitation should end this morning before returning again this evening in the form of snow or freezing rain. Temps will still remain in the low 30's which will allow for very little thawing before the second round of precipitation. We will keep you posted.
