First Homicide of the Year in Louisville

Winston County’s first homicide of 2014 occurred on Saturday evening (3/1/14) in the City of Louisville. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm at the Revival Apartments on Beal Street according to LPD Investigator Greg Clark.  The victim, Taquee Mullins, age 23, was pronounced dead at the Winston Medical Center.

Preliminary reports indicate that an altercation occurred between the suspect, Marvin Dash, and a cousin of the victim during a pre-birthday party for Mullins.   The victim became involved in the altercation and was stabbed in the chest.

Dash is currently in custody at the Winston Choctaw County Regional Correctional Facility.

This homicide follows on the heels of another incident that occurred on Friday night (2/28/14) in the same general area.  A stabbing occurred on Piney Wood Drive when two individuals were involved in an altercation. In this incident, J. W. Bennett was stabbed in the abdomen and was airlifted to Meridian in critical condition. His current condition is unknown. Jason Ball has been arrested in connection with this incident and he is also in custody at Winston Choctaw County Regional Correctional Facility.

There is no indication that these two incidents are related.
