Medical & Counseling Updates for Winston County

Community counseling and other medical services are available to people in Winston County as citizens recover from the EF4 tornado that heavily damaged property throughout the county on April 28.

Damaged property includes the Winston Medical Center, located on East Main, which is now closed for repairs.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center placed a portable emergency unit capable of handling typical emergency needs including lab work and X-rays in the south Teter’s parking lot (often called old Spartus Bldg) on South Church Street. Doctors and nurses from the Winston Medical Center are staffing the unit.

Community Counseling, located on West Main Street, will have additional staff at the mobile hospital on Church Street beginning Monday, May 12. Free crisis counseling is available. For more information on counseling services, call toll free 1-888-943-3022.

A mobile hospital is being set up in the Teter’s parking lot and will replace the UMC emergency unit around May 19.

Several clinics also were damaged during the storm.

Dr. Michael Ard is seeing his patients at the Noxapater Clinic until further notice. For appointments, contact the Noxapater Clinic at 662-724-4051.
