Run Off Election Set for June 24

Last Tuesday's Republican Primary for U.S. Senate did not result in a majority for either candidate. This results in a run-off set for June 24 between incumbent Thad Cochran and Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel.

McDaniel led slightly in the vote count but could not attain a 50% plus one majority. While the 3rd candidate Thomas Carey garnered only a few votes in the primary, these were enough to force the run-off.

Voters will return to the polls on Tuesday, June 24 but with the following exceptions:

  • The U.S. Senate race will be the only item on the ballot.
  • Those who voted in the Democratic Primary on June 3rd cannot vote in the Republican run-off.
  • If you did not vote on June 3rd, you can vote in this run-off
  • If you voted in the Republican Primary on June 3rd, you can vote in this run-off.
