ECCC Continues to Offer Educational Opportunities

East Central Community College in Decatur continues to offer a variety of educational opportunities to assist students of all ages in reaching their academic goals.

In addition to courses provide in a traditional classroom setting, East Central offers evening classes and video conference classes at various locations in the College’s five-county district. Numerous online courses are also available for the convenience of students.

Evening classes offered on the Decatur campus include General Biology I with Lab, General Biology II with Lab, Human Anatomy I with Lab, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Atypical Child, Administrative Preschool Program, Student Teaching I, Child Psychology, Emergency Medical Technician, English Composition I, English Composition II, Basketball Theory, Baseball Theory, Softball Theory, Western Civilization, American (U.S.) History, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Music Appreciation, General Psychology and Public Speaking I.

In Louisville, evening classes are held at the Winston/Louisville Career-Technology Complex. Course offerings include Personal and Community Health, and Child Psychology.

Evening classes provided at the Forest/ Scott County Career and Technology Center include American (U.S) History I, English Composition I and English Composition II.

The Leake County Career-Technical Center in Carthage hosts several evening classes, including American (U.S.) History, College Algebra, English Composition I, English Composition II and Music Appreciation.

In Philadelphia, evening classes are held at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center. Course offerings include Human Growth and Development, Intermediate English, American (U.S.) History I, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, English Composition I and English Composition II.

Evening classes begin Monday, August 18, 2014.

Several Video Conferencing classes are provided for the fall 2014 semester.

“Classes are taught by ECCC full-time instructors at the main campus in Decatur and simultaneously sent to designated sites in the five-county district,” said Dr. Randall E. Lee, Vice President for Student Services. “This high-technology system makes day-time classes available and accessible throughout the district. Students love the convenience of classes nearby that save them time and money.”

Class locations include the Carthage Career Advancement Center, the Integrated Tech Lab in Choctaw, Neshoba Business Enterprise Center in Philadelphia, and Career Advancement Center in Louisville.

The following courses are offered at the same time at each location: Legal Environment of Business (9 to 9:55 a.m., MWF); World Literature (11:30 to 12:30 p.m.); Personal and Community Health (9:25 to 10:45 a.m., Tu/Thur); American (U.S.) History (8 to 9:20 a.m., Tu/Thur); General Psychology (1 to 2:20 p.m., MW); Intro to Sociology (11 to 11:55 a.m., MWF); and Theatre Appreciation (12 to 12:55 p.m., MWF).
