Boil Some Peanuts - High School Football Returns!

UPDATE!! LHS game time is at 7:00 pm not 7:30 as stated previously....

It's in the air; the smell of leather and sweat, boiled peanuts and grilled concession stand burgers - the clickety clickety boom of the high school band drummers and the cheers, hisses and groans of fans. High school football is back this weekend in Winston County.

With three home games on Friday night, there should be plenty of action to kick off the season. Forecasts call for hot and dry weather at game times.

Rebuilding Noxapater may be facing the biggest challenge of the
weekend as they host a very strong
2A Eupora team. While Louisville is also facing some rebuilding after last year's state championship, the Cats are still ranked either #1 or #2 in 3A (depending on the poll) and will host Jim Hill on Friday night. Winston Academy brings back an experienced quarterback and hopes to improve on last year's record. The Patriots will host Sylva Bay. Nanih Waiya has some big expectations but have to start the season on the road at Union.

Unless there are any last minute changes, all game times are 7:00 pm except Louisville- Jim Hill which is scheduled for 7:30.

As always, Winston Web will have updates on all county teams throughout the evening and some area scores as well. Whether you're in the stands at Louisville and want to keep up with the Pats or Tigers, listening to WLSM and want updates on other teams, or if you are out of the area, state or country, you can keep up with Winston County football by following us on Twitter (@Winstonwebnews) or Facebook (WinstonWebNews). If you are not a "Twitter-er" or a "Facebook-er" you can still follow all the action at http://www.winwebnews.com on our twitterfeed page or the right side of our homepage.

A special thanks to some of our major sponsors who help bring Friday Night Tweets to you: Winston Medical Center, Bennett's Do-It Center and The Citizen's Bank.

If you have the opportunity, get out to the stadium and support our schools!!  wwm
