Special Tribute for ECCC Nursing Student

Chris Ganann of Carthage was on schedule to complete the
Practical Nursing Program at East Central Community College in Decatur. However, his young life was cut short due to an automobile accident earlier this year. His parents, Thomas (left) and Vicki Ganann of Carthage, were special guests at the program’s annual pinning ceremony and are pictured with Denita Thomas, dean of healthcare education, at the July 29, 2014, event. Also shown is a display provided by nursing program students in tribute to their fallen classmate.
The display features photos of Ganann and the artwork he provided publicizing the Practical Nursing program. Mrs. Ganann holds an award presented in memory of her son from the Mississippi Licensed Practical Nursing Association. Ganann was EC’s MLPNA Ambassador and also served as vice president of the 2013-14 Practical Nursing class.” During the pinning program, Vicki Brown of Carthage and Stephanie Hope Linch of Louisville paid tribute to Ganann, whom they described “as a joy to be around. His smile could brighten the darkest room and he will forever be missed. May each of us remember what a compassionate, caring young man Chris was, one who would have made an amazing nurse. Tonight we accept theses pins in honor of Chris.” Thomas added, “Chris had the heart of a nurse. He was caring and had a sincere desire to help others in need.” (EC Photo)
