Louisville Alderman Consider Discounted Building Permits

City of Louisville officials are expected to approve a 20% discount
in city building permits for those affected by the April 28th tornado. The 20% discount would be retroactive to the first permits issued after the tornadobut would only apply to properties and individuals who are rebuilding and repairing storm damage.

The board chose to hold off on the vote until all information could be gathered relating to already issued permits.   Individuals who have previously been issued building permits and who qualify,  will receive a refund.  The City is working on the preparation of a list of qualifying permit holders.

If the changes pass at the next Board of Alderman meeting, future permit holders will see a 20% reduction in the permit amount, but again this will only be for properties that are being rebuilt or repaired due to the tornado damage.  There is some questioning concerning the wording of the order and whether permits thafor electrical, plumbing, connection fee, etc. are to be included.
