Nanih Waiya Fall Festival October 25th

It's October already and time once again for the Annual Nanih Waiya Fall Festival and Swamptown 5K Run/Walk. And the festival is shaping up to be bigger and better than last year's inaugural run.

This year's festival set for October 25th is going to kick off with
registration for the Swamptown 5K Run/Walk at 7 am and the race will begin at 8 am. Runners will trek through a course in the heart of downtown Nanih Waiya. Pre-registration forms need to be returned to PO Box 83 Louisville by October 10th. New this year will be the kids Fun Run which will begin just after the 5K. Registration for the kids will be done on site that morning. Pre-registered runners will receive a run t-shirt and there will be cash prizes and medals for the winners.

The festival itself will open at 9 am and once again feature arts and crafts vendors, food, games for the kids and bounce houses. And kids of all ages will once again be able to win some yummy baked goods in the cake walk. And let's not forget the main attraction for the kids. We will once again have the hayride and pumpkin patch where everyone can pick out and take home their own pumpkin.

The centerpiece of the festival this year will be a great lineup of entertainment. This year's acts include (confirmed at this time) Ben Johns, Southbound, Corey and Cara Jackson, and Slim Pickins.

The location will be the same as last year's event. There is no fee to enter the festival but tickets will be sold for the game area and the pumpkin patch. All proceeds from the games, pumpkin patch, bake sale and donations go to the Friends of Nanih Waiya Community Park, a non-profit group formed to build a park in the Nanih Waiya Community.

Corporate Donors/Sponsors for the Festival (as of the writing of this article) are: HJM LLC/TimberCraft Forestry, Woodmen of the World Chapter 102, The Pack Rat Store, Waring Oil, The Taylor Group, North MS Woodmen of the World Fraternal Association, Warrior One Stop and The Tot Spot.
