House Dedication Ceremony

Ms. Anna Belle Watkins' house is the first to be completed through
the efforts of WinstonStrong after the April 28, 2014 tornado. The dedication ceremony was held on Thursday, Nov 6 at 2:00 pm. Built with funding and efforts through WinstonStrong and the construction work of Mennonite Disaster Service, the keys to home were handed over to Watkins as workers, volunteers and contributors looked on.

Mike Dowd , the executive director of WinstonStrong expressed gratitude by saying,  "This is a blessed day, It’s a beautiful day, the Lord has given us sunshine and it’s a wonderful thing to see a homeowner."
Mennonite Disaster Service is integral to rebuilding efforts across the county and a major partner with WinstonStrong. MDS began construction on this home and completed it in approximately two months. MDS is a network of volunteers who help those across the country who have lost a home in natural disasters.
This home is the first to be completed of several under construction through the efforts of WinstonStrong. The organization also works with those qualified to repair and refurnish homes damaged by the April 28 tornado.

WinstonStrong is in continual need of funds and volunteers. For information on how to donate to WinstonStrong, visit their website at
