Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory, currently serving as in his third term as Coroner of Winston County, MS was unanimously elected as Vice President of the Mississippi Coroner/Medical Examiners Association by the members of the MS Coroner/M.E. Association on Friday July 11, 2014. Gregory began serving his position as Vice President on January 7, 2015 during the Mississippi Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Association’s annual winter conference.
Gregory , Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for Winston County, served as district president from 2007-2009 and 2011, 2012 as well as 2014, presiding over a ten county area including: Calhoun, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clay, Lowndes, Monroe, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Webster and Winston. As District President, Gregory has served on the executive board of the Mississippi Coroner/Medical Examiner’s association for 2014 and was in charge of overseeing monthly district meetings to allow Coroners and Deputy Coroners in the 10 county district to receive part of the required 24 hours per year of continuing education. Each district meeting counts as 2 hours continuing education for each coroner so that they can get re-certified at the close of each year to continue to serve as a coroner in his or her county. The meetings featured different speakers each month teaching a variety of different subjects regarding death investigation.

Gregory stated, “I am honored to have been elected by my peers in the state of Mississippi to serve as Vice President of our outstanding association. It is indeed a huge honor to have been selected by all of the members of the association to serve as the vice president. I look forward to working along with Ellis Stuart, Copiah County Coroner and President as well as Ginger Meriweather, Secretary and Tallahatchie County Coroner as well as the coroners of each MS county in 2015. I also want to thank my family and the citizens of Winston County for their prayers and support as I continue to serve this great county as Coroner. Thank you to all of the voters who helped re-elect me in 2011 to the Winston County Coroner Office. I look forward to striving to help make the Mississippi Coroner/Medical Examiner Association a stronger organization. I ask for your continued support and prayers.”
