Electronic Resource Enhancements at Your Library

Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System (MMRLS) in keeping with their vision statement decided to invest in eight Facts on File online reference databases over the course of the last four years. The vision statement of MMRLS states “The management and staff of the public library system envision the continuation of the blending of traditional public library services with the electronic information services and technologies. This blending of traditional services with new electronic services is for the enrichment of educational opportunities for all citizens.”

Recently Facts on File decided to integrate the database titled U.S. Government Online with several other of their database offerings to make up a more comprehensive resource for MMRLS customers to browse titled American History Online. According to the Facts on File website, “American History Online spans more than 500 years of political, military, social, and cultural history to cover the American experience.”

The African-American History Online database has also received several user friendly enhancements. The Facts on File website states that African-American History Online “features thousands of cross-referenced entries, covering the entire spectrum of African-American history over the past 500 years.”

MMRLS customers have free access to the eight online reference databases at any of their 13 branches.
