Winston Medical Center To Move Into Transitional Facility

Louisville, Ms –After being devastated in the April 28th tornado, Winston Medical Center is moving one step closer to getting back to normal.

A transitional hospital, located just to the north of the temporary facility, is currently under construction and will serve as Winston Medical Center until construction of the new medical center at the East Main Street location can be completed. This building is being leased from the same company, Johnson Portables, who provided similar structures to the hospitals destroyed in Moore, OK and Joplin, MO. The target date for opening is tentatively set for April 1, 2015.

“It’s been a process,” said Paul Black, CEO of Winston Medical Center. “The transitional facility located at the 926 South Church Avenue location will allow us to provide services to the citizens of Winston and surrounding counties in a completely enclosed environment. No more tents. No more having to go outside in the elements to go from one department to the other. Not only will we have the regular hospital ancillary services of Emergency Room, Radiology, Laboratory, and Respiratory Care services, we will have ten private rooms for acute care services, each with its own private bathroom. Also, this facility will have seven additional beds that will allow us to bring back Turning Point, our senior care psychiatric program.”

“I believe I can speak for all of the employees as well as the Winston County Medical Foundation in saying that we are extremely excited about moving into this transitional facility. In doing so, we hope that we are able to bring everyone another step closer to normal.” said Black.
