Freezing Rain Advisory - Tonight into Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory
for Central Mississippi beginning this evening (Sunday) at 9:00 pm. Falling temperatures during the evening hours along with light precipitation can create slick roadways, bridges and overpasses throughout the area by Monday morning.

Counties include:

Winston and Noxubee Counties are on the extreme southern edge of the warning area and may not be as impacted as seriously as areas to our west and north. Travelers in Winston County should use caution but major travel issues are not expected on Monday morning (at this time) as precipitation is expected to taper off as temps drop. Little accumulation is expected by Monday morning (0.10" or less)

NWS has more concerns on Monday evening and Tuesday morning as rain could return on Monday afternoon as temperatures continue to fall resulting in more road issues.

As always, folks should continue to monitor the weather for updates and advisories. Travelers should use extra caution on bridges and overpasses and be aware of the possibility of black ice. Those traveling outside of Winston County on Monday morning, Monday evening and Tuesday morning should check road conditions with http://mdottraffic.com or call 511 for more info.

WinstonWeb will continue to monitor and keep you posted. Right now it appears that we should use caution on the roadways but at this time no delays or cancellations are known.
