Winter Weather Warning - Snow, Freezing Rain Predicted for Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a winter storm warning for our area in effect from 6 a.m., Wednesday morning till midnight, Wednesday night.

Winston County in the orange "elevated" band as of
2:30 pm Tuesday
There is a possibility of heavy snow with this storm. Snow is expected to begin sometime in the mid morning hours between 6 and 10 a.m. and end in the early to mid evening.  Snow may be mixed with sleet or freezing rain at times.  Actual accumulation is difficult to predict but the Winston County area is currently projected to be in a band of  2 - 4 inches of snow with possible snowfall up to 6 inches in localized areas.

This amount of snow accumulation will create hazardous travel conditions and possible power outages. A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Travel is discouraged.

The projected weather has resulted in numerous closings and delays in and around Winston County. Individuals can view the list on our home page  below or click here
