Tree Giveaway Set for Friday at Louisville Coliseum

In partnership with the Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC)
and the National Arbor Day Foundation, the City of Louisville offer trees to residents as part of the Mississippi Tree Recovery Campaign in response to the April 28, 2014 tornado that hit our area.

The giveaway will be hosted by the City's Parks and Recreation Department and the Winston County Master Gardeners at the Louisville Coliseum beginning at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 6.  The giveaway will continue until 6:00 pm.

The variety of seedlings is unknown at this time but MFC indicates that it will include a diverse mix of new trees. The giveaway is open to any Winston County residents.

Mayor Will Hill said, "People here have been through so much and lost so much. We're glad to work with these agencies to help our citizens in another step of the recovery process."

Another tree program is in the works that will provide trees for public use (parks and city/county property) and for sale to private individuals as well. This program is scheduled for late fall of 2015.
