Winton County Relay for Life Celebrates Hope - April 24

Winston County Relay for Life will be held on April 24, 2015 at the Louisville High School football field. The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with Survivors Registration. Survivors are asked to come to the tent that is located in the middle of the field. Survivor participants will be given a  t-shirt and at 5:45, a reception will be held in their honor. Refreshments and fellowship for all survivors!

At 6:00 pm, the Relay for Life Opening Ceremony will be held followed by the "Parade of Teams." At 6:30, the ECCC Collegians will be taking the stage to perform with Cara Jackson, Corey Jackson and Anna Katherine Wells, all from Winston County! At 8:30, Steady On, led by Teresa Ingram will perform and the final performer of the night, Ben Johns will begin at 9:30.

 The night will come to a close at 10:00 with a luminary service. This is the event where individuals can purchase luminaries and sky lanterns in memory or honor of someone who has battled cancer. The luminaries are $15.00 each. The sky lanterns are $25 and will be released at this time as well.  The entire field will be lit with the luminairies and the lights will be turned off. 

Relay Chairperson Brandi Krajewski said, " It is a beautiful time to
reflect on those who are no longer with us. It gives us a time to remember them. It also gives us HOPE. It allows us to celebrate all those who have beat cancer."

There are currently over 14 teams participating in this event. This year theme is "Celebration of Hope." so teams are decorating their tents with celebration in mind: 

Winston Medical Center, Winston Therapy Services, WMC Turning Point and Winston Medical Center Nursing Home will be hosting a tent in a birthday party theme. Brownies, rice crispy treats, cakes, pies, cotton candy and other goodies will be sold. The Pilot Club of Louisville is planning a tent with loads of candy for the kids! Citizen's Bank will be selling hotdogs, boiled peanuts and so much more! Sta-Home will have several raffles going on! Winston Medical Clinic is selling raffles tickets on a YETI cooler and Costa sunglasses! Evergreen Baptist Church has several things planned for the night! Louisville Schools will be selling snowcones and tshirts. 

 The night will be filled with live entertainment, food and lots of events for the kids! Families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and spend the evening!

Krajewski indicated that the the goal is to raise $35000 to help fight cancer. "On behalf of the Winston County Relay for Life Committee, I want to say thank you to our sponsors.
