ECCC Announces ‘Warriors’ Basketball Camp

May 5, 2015..News Release: The Warriors Fundamental Camp, an
instructional clinic for young males wanting to improve their basketball skills, is scheduled this summer at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced ECCC men’s head coach Robert Thompson who serves as camp director.

Thompson, who recently completed his second year as Warrior head mentor, said in addition to learning the game of basketball and improving skills, each participant “will enjoy days of individual fundamental instruction, competitive games and various tournaments filled with fun and excitement.” Each camper will also have the opportunity to participate in an autograph session on the final day of each camp.


He added, “Our camps are designed to provide a positive experience for each participant by teaching them the fundamentals required to be a success in the great game of basketball and most importantly ‘life,’ regardless of level.”

Campers in grades one through nine are invited to attend the four-day clinic, which will be held from 1 until 5 p.m. daily June 15-18 in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building.

The camp includes daily fundamental work, with emphasis on ball
handling, passing, shooting and footwork; daily drills, with emphasis on strategy, five-on-five games, three-on-three games and competitive skills; and daily tips, which stress the importance of leadership, service and teamwork.

Cost is $65 per camper. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt.
