Airport Continues to Grow - Air Show Planned

The Winston County Supervisors were briefed on continued
updates and improvements at the Winston/Louisville Airport on Monday.

Airport Board President Mike Forster informed the Board of the completion of the new 21000 square foot ramp extension. The extension provides future access to a new hangar that will be constructed later this year and provides more room for larger corporate jets at the facility.

The hangar, expected to be completed in late Fall, will be leased by Taylor Air. Construction will be financed by an MDOT grant for 50% of the cost and the remainder will be financed with a 20 year loan through Renasant Bank. The loan will be secured by the hangar and a lease agreement with Taylor Air over that 20 year period resulting in no out of pocket expense. Bids on this project will be opened on June 25 and the construction site will be near the new terminal building that was completed last year.

The Devil Dog is to return on Sept 26
Forster also noted several grant opportunities and successes
including a $70,000 MDOT grant for the purchase of support equipment for corporate aircraft.

In addition, Forster indicated that the success of last year's air show will result in an even larger show this year. Scheduled for September 26, the show will again include the Devil Dog aircraft, an aerobatics show and skydiving jumps and other events.
