Three Arrested in Copper Theft, Other Possible Charges

The Winston County Sheriff's Office made three arrests on Monday (June 22) related to the theft of metal (copper) from a local resident.

Justin "Rye" McDonald, Le Andrew Hughes and Lee Hughes were charged with the theft of more than a thousand pounds of copper wire with the thefts beginning on Friday (June 19) and continuing over the weekend.

In addition, the suspects have been implicated in similar thefts at chicken houses in Winston and Neshoba County and are currently under investigation for possible involvement in another break-in of a residence in the County.

Sheriff Jason Pugh indicated that McDonald was suspected of possible involvement in a vehicle theft inside the City of Louisville. The investigation of that case has been turned over to LPD.

The three were in custody and bond had not been set as of Wednesday morning.
