Winston County Master Gardeners Yard of the Month- June 2015

A gem of a garden --- is how one might describe the Winston County Master Gardeners (WCMG) Yard of the Month for June. This gem belongs to Cassandra Fulton, who began her gardening journey about 15 years ago when she inherited some acreage from her father. Cassandra shares the property with several family members, but she has made her space uniquely her own with her lovely home, a pond, and a swimming pool.

Being an avid Mississippi State fan, Cassandra's landscaping reflects the maroon and white colors of State. These colors are repeated throughout her property, along with statues and flags of bulldogs. She even has a real bulldog who trails her tirelessly as she works in her lovely garden.

Cassandra truly loves her yard and does her own work in it. Her specialty seems to be unique sitting areas with lovely floral vignettes to enjoy while relaxing. She especially enjoys resting in the front porch swing listening to frogs croaking after a rain. While Cassandra has many and varied plant varieties, she is partial to ferns, roses, begonias, and of course, any maroon colored plant!

Cassandra's home and lovely grounds are southeast on HWY 397, about 2 miles past Memorial Park.
Look for the "Yard of the Month" sign on the left. Follow the signs to Cassandra's beautiful two story white home. Her daughter is to be married at her home the weekend of June 6, when the glory of these beautiful grounds will be on full display.

The  Master Gardeners hope the legacy of the love of gardening, so evident in Cassandra, will be
continued through the Fulton family for many generations to come.

Congratulations, Cassandra Fulton on becoming WCMG Yard of the Month - June 2015
