Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System Honors Wall of Fame Inductees

The System Trustees and Staff of the Mid-Mississippi Regional
Library System (MMRLS) held a reception Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Attala County Library
honoring five inductees into the Wall of Fame. Present and past staff and trustees who have made a significant contribution to local librarianship were honored at this event.

The 2015 inductees included the late Mrs. Maxine McNeill, Retired System Bookmobile Librarian and Winston County Librarian, 1958 – 1990. Guests present to honor Mrs. McNeill included her son, Mr. Don McNeill and wife Fran of Ridgeland, MS; cousin, Sue Hendrix Pate of Grenada, MS; Winston County Librarian, Beth Edwards and Assistant Librarian, Venita Hollingsworth; and other friends.


Other inductees honored were the late Mrs. Audra Clark, Retired Walnut Grove Librarian, 1967 – 1990; the late Mrs. Dorothy Cook, Retired System Reference Librarian and Attala County Librarian, 1970 – 1988. Mrs. Delorese Kirk, Retired Duck Hill Librarian and Library Substitute, 1985 – 2013; and Mrs. Virginia “Bootsie” Weed, Retired Winona Librarian, 1986 – 2014.

Mr. Richard Greene, MMRLS Executive Director, welcomed those attending and gave a brief background of the MMRLS Wall of Fame and recognized the 2014 Charter Honorees. Mr. Greene then introduced the 2015 inductee presenters. Presenters included Ms. Linda Milner, Retired System Assistant Director and Charter Honoree; Mr. Bob Patrick, former Attala Friends of the Library President; Mrs. Jessie Mann, Duck Hill Librarian; Mrs. Beth Edwards, Winston County Librarian; and Mrs. Patricia Nail, Winona Librarian.

Mr. Greene led the induction ceremony with each presenter giving biographical information and sharing anecdotes of their inductee. Following the ceremony, inductees as well as family, friends and library staff shared memories of the honorees.
