September is School Attendance Awareness Month

At Tuesday night's (August 18) Board of Alderman meeting, Mayor Will Hill signed the proclamation recognizing September as School Attendance Awareness Month.

School officials, including the Superintendent of LMSD, Ken McMullan and Stacey Goss-Spiva, school attendance officer, were present as well as local law enforcement officials from the Louisville Police Department and the Winston County Sheriff's Department.

"Reducing absentee rates is critical to a student's success", said Mayor Hill. "Health care providers, law enforcement and community leaders all need to be involved."

Superintendent McMullan thanked Stacey Goss-Spiva for her work to improve attendance and expressed his appreciation to the City of Louisville for their assistance
