Nanih Waiya Celebrates New Park and Fall Festival

Great weather greeted the visitors on Saturday as they gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Nanih Waiya Community Park with their annual Fall Harvest Festival. The park has been an ongoing  project of the community. The property on Highway 490 was purchased in March 2014 and work has progressed steadily with the aid of donations in the form of labor and money. The park is privately funded.

A big crowd enjoyed the food, the entertainment, the vendors and the opportunity to explore the park's facilities.

Park Board President Jerry Hemphill noted the great community support and the big turnout for Saturday's event and said that more than $20,000 were raised during the day.
