Louisville's First Homicide on Monday Morning

Officers of the Louisville Police Department were called to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Rogers Avenue around 1:00 am on Monday morning (12-14-15). Upon responding to the "shots fired" 911 call, LPD found the door open to an apartment and two gunshot victims on the floor. Both victims were dead at the scene and included a 24 year old black female and a 31 year old black male.

Officers secured the crime scene and both bodies were transported to the state medical examiner in Jackson for autopsy. Further evidence has since been sent to the state crime lab.

According to LPD Assistant Chief Andy Taylor, multiple shots were fired at the scene and neighbors reporting hearing an ongoing argument between the two tenants prior to the gunshots. Taylor indicated that a full homicide investigation is ongoing and would not speculate on previous reports of a possible murder-suicide.

Preliminary autopsy reports could return as early as Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. The names of the victims have not been released at this time. This is the first homicide reported in Louisville in 2015.
