Weather Update for Sunday Evening-Monday Morning

A weather system should be moving into extreme western Mississippi by late afternoon on Sunday. The major source of concern with the system is high winds. Areas west of Interstate 55 can expect wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. Areas further east can expect wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour.
While there may be brief periods of heavy rain across Mississippi, rainfall will typically be limited to one to two inches. Widespread flooding is not expected but localized flooding is possible.
The risk of tornado activity is limited but is still a possibility across the state.
This is a fairly slow moving system and the squall line is not expected to reach the Winston County area until somewhere between 3 and 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
We will repost this information later this evening on our Facebook and Twitter pages and will keep you informed of any changes as they develop.
