Highlights From Winston Co. Supervisors Meeting- Feb 1

The Board heard a proposal from Mike Slaughter of Slaughter and Associates for consideration of a Comprehensive County Plan. The board took it under advisement for further consideration.

The Board opened bids for repair of Landfill and Popular Flat Roads. Areas of these roads were heavily damaged due to high traffic as a result of the April 2014 tornado.  Three bids were received and after review, the Board accepted the low bid from Falcon Construction in the amount of $610,939.60.

The Board also accepted the low bid to purchase 2 new garbage trucks from Kenworth for $122,220 each.

The Boards agenda included (but not limited to) the following:
  1. Reviewed county contracts for a variety of items - (New  Boards have the option to continue or negate existing contracts entered into by previous board).
  2. Met with Dean Park Commissioners on continued repairs and improvements.
  3. Accepted a letter of resignation from Donnie Graham as Deputy Coroner.
  4. Heard from Department heads on employee and other issues.
