ECCC Lady Diamond Warriors Sweep Mississippi Delta Community College

The No. 3 nationally ranked East Central Community College Lady Diamond Warriors blasted 15 hits in game one and 18 hits in game two to sweep Mississippi Delta Community College Saturday, March 19, at the Softball Park in Decatur.

ECCC improved to 25-4 overall on the 2016 season and 9-3 in the conference.

Maegen Ellis out of Oak Hill Academy in West Point brought home four RBI on three hits, including two doubles, in the 15-0 game two win.

East Central scored 10 runs in the first inning in game two, and then added three more in the third and two in the fourth in the run-rule game two.

Chloe Thaggard out of Leake Academy pitched one inning of shutout ball, struck out two, surrendered two hits and picked up the game two win.
The Lady Diamond Warriors’ five-run outburst in the first inning of game one helped boost East Central to a 9-1 win.

East Central scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Ellis, an RBI double by Brittney McCray of Sumrall High School, an RBI single by Katlyn Duke of Neshoba Central, a groundout by Courtney Moore of Clinton High School, and an RBI single by Andi Hannaford of Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia.

Both Hannaford and Duke picked up two RBI in the win.

Lacey Hill, a product of Kilbourne (La.) High School, picked up the win for East Central in the circle allowing no hits in her two innings of work.

East Central’s Lady Diamond Warriors will be on the road to Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Tuesday, March 22, for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The Lady Diamond Warriors will return home to play Itawamba Community College Friday, March 25, in Decatur. The games are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
