Large Print Books Donated to Library

The Winston County Friends of the Library recently applied for a $250.00 grant to purchase large-prints for its collection, but, unfortunately, was not one of the three Friends group selected state-wide to receive the grant. However, the Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, heard about our grant request and offered to donate twelve boxes of large print books weeded from their libraries recently. Shown here are Josie Shumaker (l) of the Friends of the Columbus/Lowndes Public Library and Jeffrey Davis (r), Winston County Library volunteer with the twelve boxes of free books. Josie personally delivered the books on Saturday, April 9. “This is really unbelievable,” said librarian Beth Edwards. “What a nice gesture by a fellow library to help us out with so many great books for our large print collection. We have an increasing demand for these books, and they are very expensive to purchase (between $35 and $40 each book). I can’t say thank you enough to the Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library.”
