Salute To Success/Ms Scholars Recognition Program

On Tuesday,April 12 the Salute To Success held their annual "Getcha Head In The Game" Senior Recognition at Lake Tiah O' Khata. Executive Director, Gerald Mills welcomed all the seniors and school officials to the recognition program. Bro. Mike Dowd did the invocation and Rev. Mason Joy, pastor at East Louisville Baptist church, shared some words of encouragement to the seniors. More than 60 honor students from all schools across the County- including Winston Academy, Grace Christian, Louisville High, Noxapater and Nanih Waiya were recognized for their academic efforts.

The event was sponsored by Atmos Energy, Winston Medical Center and the Winston County Economic Development Partnership/ Chamber of Commerce.


Also included in the recognition were students who participated in the Mississippi Scholars program. This is part of a national program, operating across the country. It utilizes business leaders to motivate students to complete a more challenging course of study in high school

Mississippi joined the program in 2003. Since then, more than 11,000 Mississippi High School students have graduated with the Mississippi Scholars distinction.

Mississippi Scholars has recently implemented a Tech Master program to encourage success in the trades and for workforce development.
