The event was sponsored by Atmos Energy, Winston Medical Center and the Winston County Economic Development Partnership/ Chamber of Commerce.
Also included in the recognition were students who participated in the Mississippi Scholars program. This is part of a national program, operating across the country. It utilizes business leaders to motivate students to complete a more challenging course of study in high school
Mississippi joined the program in 2003. Since then, more than 11,000 Mississippi High School students have graduated with the Mississippi Scholars distinction.
Mississippi Scholars has recently implemented a Tech Master program to encourage success in the trades and for workforce development.
