Winston Plywood Construction Enters Final Stages

In their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 5, the final
stages of construction of Winston Plywood were major topics.

The board paid invoices of $1,194,730 dollars toward the construction of the facility. The construction phase is nearing completion and most of the remaining efforts will be to install and get all equipment operational by June 30, 2016.

Dr. Dick Baldwin with Winston Plywood spoke to the board and expressed the company's appreciation to the city.

“We are delighted that we can see daylight at the end of the trail. The completion date is June 30th but we hope it's a little sooner than that.”

Referencing the long term commitment, he noted that this is a 40-year project designed to compete in a turbulent commodity market. Baldwin was pleased with the business activity between Winston Plywood and a lot of local small businesses in Louisville.

He also spoke of a meeting with a recent training group of 11 people. Nine of those people were local. He also noted that there were many local skilled people working on the construction of the project as well.

“We want to have a different kind of company.” said Baldwin, “A company that does not feel like a big company but we can talk to each other and discuss what needs to be done. I see wonderful things happening here for families in this community. We appreciate all that you're doing to support this project and it's good to have that kind of relationship with the community.”
