Shooting in Winston County Leaves One Dead

At 8:53 pm last night (Thursday 6-16-16), Winston County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by an individual in the 500 block of Stanley Road in southwest Winston County. A deputy was requested to come to the property and take a written report of a domestic violence incident that occurred earlier in the day at another location. The alleged victim of the abuse was now at the residence on Stanley Road in the company of family members.

While in route to the property, the Sheriff’s department received a second call from the home at 9:08 pm stating that the subject of the abuse complaint, Wesley McAdory, had called and stated that he was on his way to the residence and that they were concerned that there would be trouble.

When deputies arrived at the scene, only minutes later, Wesley McAdory, of Winston County, was found in the yard with apparent bullet wounds to his abdomen and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual showed signs of injury due to a physical confrontation but refused medical attention.

The initial investigation indicates that a physical altercation took place in the front yard of the residence between McAdory and an individual in the home. During the altercation, three shots were fired and at this time it is believed that two shots struck McAdory at close range.

The other individual involved was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to Winston Medical where deputies administered tests including a gunshot residue test prior to further questioning by investigators.

Sheriff Jason Pugh indicated that the investigation is in its initial stages and said that McAdory’s body was sent to the state crime lab for further examination. Said Pugh, “At this point we are in the evidence gathering stage of this investigation and we will be conferring with the district attorney.” No charges have been filed at this time.
