Teen SLP Program

These teens enjoyed a talk at the Winston County Library this past week by Mr. Bill Blackwell (center, holding thank you card), Executive Director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. As part of the Teen Summer Library Program going on at the library during the month of June, Mr. Blackwell talked about the history of sports in Mississippi, Mississippi Sports Hall Of Fame inductees, past and present famous Mississippi athletes and sports trivia. Mr. Blackwell worked for 33 years in professional baseball, 25 years as General Manager including 12 years with the Jackson Mets/Generals. He was named the Hall of Fame’s Executive Director after the retirement of Rick Cleveland. “This program was so interesting,” said librarian Beth Edwards. “We all learned so much about sports figures from the past and present in Mississippi. And every teen received a free pass to the Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Thank you to Rives & Reynolds Lumber Company for sponsoring this great program!”
