Upcoming NAP Application Closing Dates

The Winston County FSA Office reminds producers of the following Non-Insured Crop Assistance Program crop application closing dates:
September 30, 2016 - Bahia grass, oats, wheat (SRW), forage for grazing (cool and warm season), and mechanically harvested forage (cool and warm season).
November 20, 2016 - Honey, apples, blueberries and grapes

Rural Youth Loans

The Farm Service Agency makes loans to rural youths to establish and operate income-producing projects under the auspices of 4-H clubs, FFA and other agricultural groups. A qualifying project must be planned and operated with the help of an organization advisor, produce sufficient income to repay the loan, and provide practical business and educational experience to the borrower. The maximum loan amount is $5,000.
To qualify for a rural youth loan, the borrower must:
  • be a citizen of the United States or a legal resident alien
  • be 10 years to 20 years of age
  • conduct a modest income-producing project in a supervised program
  • demonstrate the capability of planning, managing and operating the project under the guidance and assistance of the project advisor
  • be recommended by the project supervisor, who must also recommend the project and loan and agree to provide adequate supervision
  • comply with FSA's general eligibility requirements
