All elected City of Louisville officials were present for the luncheon to recognize the students and welcome the new members of the 2016-17 MYC.. Mayor Will Hill addressed the group comprised of students, city officials, and guests. Past activities of service were acknowledged and future opportunities were presented. The MYC will have an upcoming opportunity in the Spring to visit Delta State University for a Statewide Youth Leadership Summit.
Mayor Hill thanked the youth for their willingness to serve and challenged the youth to be engaged and involved in activities of the home, community, church, and school. Hill suggested involvement leads to greater understanding and we all can make a difference in the lives of others if we apply ourselves.
The Mayors Youth Council provides a great opportunity for youth in the community to learn of local government and provides opportunities for community service hours.
