Generous Donation Allows Purchase Of Mobile Vision Screener

The Louisville Lions Club met for their annual Christmas Party December 13, 2016 at Pleasant Hill UMC Family Life Center. Present were Chris and Penny Crowson, who in memory of their daughter Rachel, gave a significant monetary donation to the club.

This generous donation was used to purchase a Plusoptix Mobile Vision Screener. The device measures both eyes simultaneously in 0.5 seconds at a distance of 3.3 feet. The simultaneous measurement of both eyes also enables a reliable comparison of the measurement values of both eyes.
This high technology device allows trained Lions' members to provide eye screenings across Winston County in schools and day cares for children as young as six months of age.

The Louisville Lions Club is the first club in the state of Mississippi to purchase this type of eye screening machine. The Louisville Lions have a history of providing eye screenings in elementary schools in the county. This device will speed the process and improve the accuracy of the screenings that help parents and teachers identify students that may have vision problems at an early age. The donation by the Crowson family made the purchase possible and should help to provide vision screenings for area children for years to come.
