Ball, Massey Win Louisville Run Off Election

The two remaining city races in the Democratic Primary were decided on Tuesday as incumbent Frances S. Ball defeated challenger Gerald Hayes to retain her Alderman At Large position and Drew Massey defeated Beth Warner Chandler for the Ward One Alderman position. Incumbent Dickie Caperton did not run.

Voter turnout was extremely low. Initial estimates indicate that fewer than 20% of voters participated. In the Alderman At Large race, Ball captured 57% of the 952 votes cast while Massey won with 65.5% of the 296 votes cast in Ward One.

All candidates are unopposed in the upcoming general election. Last night's vote counts included absentee ballots. It will be several days before the vote is certified.
