State Lions Convention in Louisville Over Weekend

Lions Jazz Band performs
The 2017 Mississippi State Lions Convention was held at Lake Tiak O'Khata over the weekend bringing visitors from all across the state to Louisville.  The annual convention brings members of local Lions Clubs together with state and national Lions officials. Lions clubs support many local activities and primarily work to assist those with vision problems - supporting the Mississippi Eye Bank and assisting in the purchase of eyeglasses and hearing aids for those in need.

This year's convention featured a "County Fair" theme as Lions participated in everything from cakewalks to potato sack races and horseshoes. Entertainment was provided by the Ms Lions AllState Jazz band  who performed for  members and the public on the grounds of Lake Tiak O'Khata before a fireworks display on Friday evening.

Two local Lions, Judy Webb and Mike Dowd received the prestigious "Melvin Jones Fellowship Award" for their service to the Lions organization and their local club.
