Black Girls Read Meet Librarian of Congress

BLACK GIRLS READ met the 14th Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden at the MS Book festival on Saturday, August 19, 2017. BLACK GIRLS READ is an extension of the nonprofit organization, THE MALACHI PROJECT. The girls also attended a book signing by the author of the current book they are reading: MIDNIGHT WITHOUT A MOON by Linda Williams Jackson, a writer from the Mississippi Delta.
BLACK GIRLS READ is a book club made up of Winston County girls from K-12th, the girls participate in book discussions, STEM projects, The Arts, and Community Service Projects, and Health and Wellness. Dr. Melissa Davis, Director.
